1 | Did John the Baptist eat fruit or bugs? | Mark 1:6 | Michael Draves | 101103 | ||
Always took it to be the bugs since they are Kosher. Leviticus 11 NASB 21 'Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects which walk on all fours: those which have above their feet jointed legs with which to jump on the earth. 22 'These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, and the devastating locust in its kinds, and the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds. 23 'But all other winged insects which are four-footed are detestable to you. |

Thank you for taking the time to check out some verses for me. Even though the "Locust-Bugs" ARE kosher, ALL FRUIT is also. Anyway, the Palestian guy that was with us, pointed out the fruit, and mentioned it grows where John the Baptist ministered. Was just curious, even though "I still don't know" - I don't HAVE to know either if it really was bugs or fruit. :) In college, I tried canned grasshoppers dipped in chocolate, and can't say I enjoyed them - anymore than I "enjoyed" the fruit off a locust tree. Thanks again. TommyS |
