Searcher- I think I read somewhere that in order to be a member of the ruling group of Jews at the time, one had to be married. Paul would have had to have been. I don't remember where I got this information. Perhaps you have more input? glory777 |

glory777: "Some scholars suggest that the apostle Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin before his conversion to Christianity, but this is not known for sure" (Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary). I read the entry for "Sanhedrin" in my Bible dictionary, but found no information on one's marital status as a requirement for membership. Shalom, kalos |

A freind who is an orthadox Jew said it would have been considered a sin to be unemployed and unmarried after a certain age, I believe Paul was married and complained of the "thorn in his side, which kept him in his place" LOL 2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure just kidding |
