1 | when did the trial start and end? | Mark 15:25 | teddydallis | 82670
Mark 15:25 says, and it was the third hour, and they crucified him (Jesus). Was the third hour 9 a.m.? St. John 19:14 indicates that Jesus' trial is still in progress at the sixth hour, which is 12:00 noon. John's time is three hours different from Mark's time. My question is: Did the trial and crucifixion take place over a course of two days? |

2 | when did the trial start and end? | Mark 15:25 | EdB | 82671
teddydallis Mark used Jewish time and John used Roman time. Jewish 24 hours started at 6 pm in the evening until 6 am and from 6 am to through to 6pm. The hour watch started at 6 pm and 6 am. The third hour of the day would be 9 am. Roman time started at midnight. John's sixth hour would then be about 6 am. John said the trial of Jesus was ongoing at at the sixth hour which would be 6 am. While marks 3 hour of the day would be 9 am.and after the trial. There is no conflict. EdB |
