Hi Brian, I think that we have to keep in mind that Peter is not a Son of a King nor a son of a king. Jesus said, "Then the sons are exempt." I think that sons means "citizens" of the land in contrast to strangers. I did find out that Jesus paid the exact amount and no more. See Exodus 30:15 See also Mt 22:16 and see that He was not partial to any. |

Ray I don't believe that Peter is the main focus of this passage. My understanding is that the questions and discussion were all centered around Jesus. Maybe someone else can share their thoughts with us. Brian |

Hi Brian, I believe that the questions and discussion were centered around Jesus also. But I believe that they were centered around the Teacher. I think that this is the only place where teacher is not capitalized in the book of Matthew, NASB. I believe that it should be. Compare Mark 10:17 with Matthew 17:24 and Matthew 23:8 | ||||||
