Hi pleasure, The other main word for power is "authority". Strong's #746, arche, as in Luke 20:20. Translated four times in the NASB as "rule". Zondervan NASB Exhaustive Concordance: #1411. dunamis; from 1410; (miraculous) power, might, strength; --ability (4), meaning (1), mightily (1), miracle (2), miracles (l7), miraculous powers (3), power (83), powers (6), strength (2), wealth (1). Number 1411 in the Gospels and King James is translated "virtue". See Luke 6:19 and Luke 8:46. See also Strong's #1849. Exousia; from 1832; power to act, authority. Translated "authority" 65 times and "power" 11 times. See also Strong's # 3168. megaleiotes; from 3167; splendor, magnificence. See Luke 9:43 for "greatness" or "majesty". These five words for power in the Greek are what I found in the Gospels. I am not a Greek student and have not searched for you beyond the gospels. But I would be interested in what others on the forum add concerning your question. From the heart, Ray |
