(This is from the Amplified Version) Jer 51:20 You [Cyrus of Persia, soon to conquer Babylon] are My battle-ax or maul and weapon of war--for with you I break nations in pieces, with you I destroy kingdoms, This Chapter 51 talks about the end of Bablylon's reign. They were the world rulers at that time. The Lord ended their rule and the Medes and Persians were given the earthly kingdom. An overview of the earth's kingdoms are covered in the Book of Daniel. Jeremiah was the prophet during the time of the Bablyon takeover of his country. He wrote Jeremiah and Lamentations. |
