Consider kenosis as a probable way to account for the issue you are wrestling with. Kenosis, of course, is a reference to the "emptying" of the Son in the incarnation (Phil. 2:7). Kenosis entails the temporary and voluntary surrender of the exercise of certain divine attributes by the Son of God while He was on earth. But I'm likely preaching to the choir: you already knew that, didn't you? --Hank
2 | Who wrote the truhth? | Matt 7:29 | Ray | 62281
Hi Hank, I think that Phil 2:7,8, are verses that should point out that Jesus came in the likeness of men but was indeed a Man. Which I have said over and over. However, with the lower case "man" of verse 8, it stresses His humanity at the expense of His Deity. I would say that the idea of His humbling Himself should agree with His becoming a Man. God did not highly exalt "him" as a "man". He is exalted as a Man. God is glorified in Him, the Son of Man. John 13:31 So this verse that you have referenced is one that I believe the translators/interpretors of both the NKJ and the NASB should reconsider. From the heart, Ray |
