2 | By whose authority?? | Matt 7:22 | Makarios | 94012
Greetings TheCurtMan, This is an interesting bit of scripture. In Matthew 7:22, "..these people were claiming to have done some remarkable signs and wonders. In fact, their whole confidence was in these works- further proof that these works, spectacular as they might have appeared, could not have been authentic. No one so bereft of genuine faith could possibly produce true good works. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit (v. 18)." (1) So, if these people were devoid of genuine saving faith, then why were they able to cast out demons? The Lord would not allow those who did not possess genuine saving faith to have access to the Power of His name (Acts 19:11-20). So, therefore, the deeds (prophesying in His name, driving out demons and doing many works) must not have been authentic, or genuine. Blessings to you, Makarios (1) The MacArthur Study Bible, 1997, Word Publishing, pg. 1405 |

3 | By whose authority?? | Matt 7:22 | DAIRYLEADER5 | 94013
Makarios, These people were self decieved and false prophets, who at one time were loyal then turned to self glorifying. Remember those who recieve gifts from God always have them. The gifts of God are without repentance. They did the works but,did them for the wrong reason.
