1 | Is "it" enough for you? | Matt 7:11 | Ray | 98993
Hi mommapbs, I am a bit "under the weather" tonight and will be heading to emergency after getting my first khemo therapy yesterday. You can all be praying for God's will in all of that. Your comment about "if we would but "eat" led me to go to the Search and "Bread of life". It brought up 120 posts and I started to read many of them and also mine of course to see how much my comments would differ in the years of the forum. I was led to John 13:17ff, "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have chosen; but [it is] that the Scripture may be fulfilled, "He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.' From now on I am telling you before [it] comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I am He." From the heart, Ray |

2 | Is "it" enough for you? | Matt 7:11 | Mommapbs | 99028
Ray - you are in my prayers.Having had a child in chemotherapy for two years, I have an idea of what it means to be "under the weather." With regard to John 13:17 - the first question I have is what "bread" is Jesus talking about? Since it is NOT capitalized, what is the significance? I can think of lots of possibilities, and these are mere speculations . . . but my strongest inclination is to carry this prophecy beyond Judas and into today as indeed there are those who have benefitted from Christianity and yet have rejected THE Bread . . . Just some things that I'll be pondering as well as thanking God for bringing this to YOUR attention! May you be comforted by His presence during this time. With Christ's love and prayer for you! mommapbs |

3 | Is "it" enough for you? | Matt 7:11 | Ray | 99435
Hi mommapbs, It is good to greet you again after a five-night stay in the hospital with an unexplained fever. I will just say hi and then get acquainted with my own bed for a while. Talking about John 13:18. I agree that bread is NOT capitalized. Judas has been discussed on this forum and I have always been hesitant to say that he would not be raised on the last day. Judas heard all the words of Jesus, and ate the bread along with the multitudes. But just as John 16:60 says, "Many [not only Judas] therefore of His disciples, when they heard [this word] said, "This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?" So our question remains of whether hearing the word, eating the bread, knowing the word of God is enough. The important thing is as you have said is to know THE Bread. I still tend to think that as one of the chosen, Judas was not lost to Him. I don't want to be like the disciples who immediately after considering who it might be among them who was going to be the betrayer, began to argue who would, could, should be regarded as the greatest. It is by grace that we all are saved. But a study of the word "it" has been interesting for me in the last few weeks. For instance, a comparison of John 14:8 and John 4:10 in thinking of comparing "it" with "the One". John 14:8, "Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us." John 4:10, "Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is [who the One is] who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.'" So is "it" enough? 1) You said, "May you be comforted by His presence during this time." I would like to mention one thing that comforted me during m y stay at one of the hospitals in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Every morning I sat at my bed and ate breakfast while looking over the city from my seventh story window. GR has many, many churches and many spires and crosses. One of the churches has a cross that glows in the sunrise/early morning hours like a lit star on a Christmas tree. It was a glorious view for me. Was "it" enough for me? No, for I also thought of the One who died on the cross for me. But it was a comforting view for me every day I was there. From the heart, Ray |
