1 | handling relationships as a Christian | Matt 6:33 | tamubnkr | 85937
gab: I appreciate your desire to bring this before the Lord. As such, I would encourage you to let God do the work. Jesus told his disciples to *first* seek God's kingdom and righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added. In other words, your relationship with God is paramount. Jesus also tells his disciples that God knows your needs, and will only give you good gifts. This, of course, includes relationships. Read also I Corinthians 13 regarding love: patient, kind, does not seek its own way, etc. This applies not only to how we love one another here on this earth, but also how God loves us and how we are to love God! Before I was married, I struggled mightily with relationships, because I had not submitted that portion of my life to Christ. When God finally got my attention in that area (sometimes I can be a bit slow in these matters), and I agreed to be obedient in that portion of my life, then God was able to richly bless me with my wife of 10 years, 7 months and 6 days. And He continues to bless our marriage daily, and I daily thank Him for it. Finally, remember that God is in control. If you have difficulty placing that relationship fully in His hands, pray that God will give you the strength and courage to do it. He will honor your request. Yours in Christ, tamubnkr |

p.s. I apologize for not including Jesus' direction on relationships found in Matthew 18:15-17. Godly advice that, unfortunately, we as Christians seldom follow (to our shame).
