Scripture ... Matthew 5:27-30 ... MPierce, God's day to you, Need to back up to verse 27, "You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery". Not only was it said, it was written (Exo 20:14, Deu 5:18) Adultery is a phyiscal act and lust is in the heart, so they are two different sins. Do not go on. Searcher |

Thank you, Searcher. My question did not pertain to my personal situation. You see, I know very little about the bible at this point, however I do enjoy learning. My friend has become a born again Christian and he and I were discussing sin. We came across this site and I was reading the questions being posted. We discussed the book of life and once saved always saved. We then began discussing sin. And how much sin is too much sin. Which is where our original question came from. He does attend bible study classes every Sunday, but the person leading the class pretty much has the discussion planned prior to the class, which leaves not time for other questions. Scripture ... James 2:10 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all." The answer to "How much sin is too much sin"? ... is one sin, based on the above verse. Read the context. Then read Romans 6:1-2 and its context. Context is looking at the paragrah .. then the paragrah before and after ... then continue to expand until you think you are done. The think of other passages that may relate. I knew about James 2:10 as being an answer ... then Romans 6:-2. Just now 1 John 1:6-2:2. It may help, Encourage your teacher to leave time for questions and to ask them ... it will help him grow, too. Searcher |
