1 | Are all sins equal and delt with the sam | Matt 5:28 | MPierce | 78918
Matthew 28:30 "But I say to you that who ever looks at a woman to lust for her has already commited adultry with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you, for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right had causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; Now here is where I need some clarification. If looking at a woman in a lustful way, is a sin? Then why stop there, why not go all the way with her and commite the adultry? Why not go all the way if "a sin is a sin"? Are all sins equal and delt with the same way?

Scripture ... Matthew 5:27-30 ... MPierce, God's day to you, Need to back up to verse 27, "You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery". Not only was it said, it was written (Exo 20:14, Deu 5:18) Adultery is a phyiscal act and lust is in the heart, so they are two different sins. Do not go on. Searcher |

Thank you, Searcher. My question did not pertain to my personal situation. You see, I know very little about the bible at this point, however I do enjoy learning. My friend has become a born again Christian and he and I were discussing sin. We came across this site and I was reading the questions being posted. We discussed the book of life and once saved always saved. We then began discussing sin. And how much sin is too much sin. Which is where our original question came from. He does attend bible study classes every Sunday, but the person leading the class pretty much has the discussion planned prior to the class, which leaves not time for other questions. Thank you again.
