Hi skymystartingpoint, this passage is not saying that it is possible for a law breaker or transgressor to inherit the kingdom of heaven. It is saying that ones who annul the least of the commandments and teaches others to do the same will not have a name or place in the kingdom of heaven. These ones will not even be considered among the least. "The least" does not actually depend on position. Looking at another verse that uses "least in the kingdom," where Jesus says that there was not a greater prophet than John the Baptist, but he that is least in the kingdom is greater than he (John the Baptist), leads me to another verse and the difference of the times. Matthew 20:16 "So the last shall be first and first last. . ." which talks about the kingdom of God (the Church) and it's establishment. All, whether the apostles who God used to lay the foundation, or preachers and teachers today, saved immediately after the day of Pentecost or saved today, will have the same outcome - eternal life. John the Baptist was not part of the kingdom of God (the Church). True believers in this dispensation are responsible for spreading the Word as well as living it. Whereas the believers in the other dispensations (Jews) were responsible for keeping the law among themselves and other Jews, we have a spiritual responsibility to the world. This dispensation is the only one where God's Spirit lives within true believers - therefore we have a greater responsibility. "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:" part of Luke 12:48 Does this help any? WalkingTalkingBible |
