1 | The symbols of the sea and net | Matt 4:19 | Stevscott | 172555
The sea is a symbol of the world. Remember it was the sea that Christ calmed and which will be as calm as glass in the end. Andrew and Peter were called to be fishers of men in this sea. We cast the net as often as he wills but know that it is the Spirit that directs the men into the net.
2 | The symbols of the sea and net | Matt 4:19 | Searcher56 | 172563
God's day to you, Stevscott, Is the sea ALWAYS a symbol of the world? That is when we see the word sea (yam in Hebrew, thalassa in Greek) - does it symbolize the world. We read "the fish of the sea" (Gen 1:26) ... "And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea" (Num 11:31). As Doc has pointed out, there is error in symbolism. Searcher |
