2 | did apostles disobey jesus' commission? | Matt 28:19 | dieselcowboy | 214480
Jesus said, I come in my Fathers' name (john5:43) the comforter, which is the holy ghost, whom the Father will send in my name....(john 14:26) i say the apostles understood what jesus was saying in mathew 28:19 that the NAME(not names) of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is The Lord Jesus Christ. The apostles were definitely in obedience to the commission and any church that does it contrary to how the apostles baptized is in disobedience. |

4 | did apostles disobey jesus' commission? | Matt 28:19 | justme | 214485
John: Is his statement attempting to say that Baptism should be in the name of "Jesus" only? there are certian groups that say we are to be baptised in Jesus name only. Or is he saying thet the words should be Father, Son, Holy Spirit? It's rather hard for me to grasp what he wants. justme |

5 | did apostles disobey jesus' commission? | Matt 28:19 | stjohn | 214489
justme, Thanks my friend! :-) I'm aware of these groups, (some say Jesus only and some say Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) but I don't see what the controversy's all about. I sure don't see a problem from Scripture that indicates that we are wrong by baptizing in jesus' name only, or in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe it's the heat of the one being baptized that our Lord sees, and not so much the words being spoken. God bless John |
