1 | They official beginning of Christianity | Matt 28:19 | TomHagedon | 154810
Imagine 11 men follow an instruction given to them by a possible nut or savior, murdered either way. They go to the mountain and see him. They doubt the possibility, but recognize him. Our faith, our salvation that we claim was put on the shoulders of 11 men to carry to people, makes the World seem a lot smaller to me. 11 messianic Jews, through Christ, started Christianity that day. They were few, but God is great. He seems to always do incredible things out of small numbers.

Hello iktoose, You are correct about denominational strictures, but they are wrong because the Bible doesn't state anywhere that only the spiritual leaders perform these functions. Steve |

7 | Is Matt 28:19-20 for every Christian? | Matt 28:19 | srbaegon | 156930
Hello iktoose, I did it by leaving denominations that insisted on those strictures. Others have done it by going to the leader(s) of the local church and asking for the Scriptural basis for what they do. If they can't, ask them to stop doing it. Usually there is some reference made to the denomination charter or by-laws instead of to Scripture. Most will not listen, a scant few will. Steve |
