1 | "Why have you forsaken me?" | Matt 27:46 | pgs | 66768 | ||
When Jesus said "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34) he was separated from God, was he actually in Hell? If Jesus is God, how could he be separated from himself? If He can't be with sin, how could Jesus be in Hell? Also, was Jesus apart from God from the 6th thru 9th hours, or until he arose? |

Read Isaiah 53 keeping in mid that it is speaking prophetically of the Messiah. Jesus was the sinless lamb of God who upon the cross took unto himself the sins of the world. God had to look away because at this time he was no longer 'sinless'. Whether he actually went to hell is an issue discussed intensely on another thread. There can be no doubt that God had seperated Himself from Jesus at that time and the only reason He would do that was the fact that God cannot look upon sin. Also read Psalm 22 from the same perspective..The sinless God/man suddenly becoming sin for us to pay the price for us. God bless... |
