1 | Was Pilate innocent of Jesuscrucifiction | Matt 27:26 | Chusarcik | 104691
Matthew 26:24-27 states Pilate washed his hands of the crime of killing Jesus. Does this mean Pilate was innocent of shedding Jesus' blood? It's confusing to me and looks like it could be taken either way. Chusarcik
2 | Was Pilate innocent of Jesuscrucifiction | Matt 27:26 | Makarios | 104692
Greetings Chusarcik, I believe that Pilate was in no way innocent of Jesus's blood, since through him Jesus was handed over to be crucified. Washing his hands, symbolizing that he was 'innocent of Jesus's blood', in no way releases him from the fact that he sentenced the Son of God to death, along with the people. His own wife warned him against it (27:19), but he gave in to the crowd (27:24), being guilty of the sin, regardless of whether or not he really wanted to see Jesus crucified or not. Blessings to you, Makarios |
