Hello Missionary35, You analogy falls apart quickly. First, the passage says nothing about being "full" about of being "empty." Therefore, what you say about being full of the Holy Ghost has no meaning here. Second, please provide Scripture that tells us that the Holy Ghost departs from believers. My Bible indicates otherwise: Ephes. 1:13-14 (ESV) In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. In Ephesians 5:18 lets us know we need to be filled with the spirit. 1Cor 2:13-14 says, "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." Hello Missionary35, This passage does not speak of being filled with the Holy Spirit either. If you want to make the case that believers need to be filled with the Spirit use this or something similar: Eph 5:18 (ESV) And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit Steve |
