1 | Satan has never been to hell? | Matt 25:41 | Ginger G | 186101
I'm still confused about this. I don't see any scriptures that tell me that Satan has never been to hell. Since he was the ruler of hell, and the lord of it, why wouldn't he be free to travel there too? After all, he goes to heaven to accuse us there. |

2 | Satan has never been to hell? | Matt 25:41 | Morant61 | 186102
Greetings Ginger! The point that you are missing is that the Devil is NOT the lord or ruler of Hell. Hell is a place of punishment to which the Devil will be sent in the last days. Consider these Scriptures: 1) Mt. 25:41 - "‘‘Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." 2) Rev. 20:10 - "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." If you do a word search for 'Devil' or 'Satan', you will discover that there is not one Scripture that ever says he is the ruler of Hell. I hope this helps! p.s. - He doesn't wear red tights, or have a pitchfork, or have the power to make deals for souls either. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | Satan? | Matt 25:41 | Ginger G | 186116
Dear Tim, Who IS the ruler of hell? Does this scripture describe Satan? 11Over them as king they have the angel of the Abyss (of the bottomless pit). In Hebrew his name is Abaddon [destruction], but in Greek he is called Apollyon [destroyer].Rev 9:11? It says he is the King of Hell. Now, Jesus took the Keys of Death and Hell away from him...so he must have had power over it...rulership. If can go to heaven, why can't he go to hell? |

Hello Ginger G, Allow me to comment on a few points you made. I think it's always helpful to keep a discussion within the realm of what scripture actually says. In other words, use terms that the Bible itself uses. 1. Scripture does not name a "ruler of hell". In Matt. 12:24 for example, the Pharisees said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons" (NASB); 2. I'm not aware that scripture actually calls satan the "king of hell". What Rev. 9:11 says is, "They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon." (NASB); 3. It might be WOF teaching (erroneously) that, "Jesus took the Keys of Death and Hell away from him." However, what scripture says in Rev. 1:18 is ,"and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades" (NASB). It says nothing about Jesus "taking the keys away from him." He is both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36) and He has never relinquished His Sovereignty, Rule or Dominion! He is "the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." (Rev. 1:8- NASB) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
