Hello, tootoo2... Welcome to the forum! I believe you are thinking of Matthew 24:36 -- I can remember that passage because 24 and 36 are both evenly divisible by 12. See also Mark 13:32, then check out 2 Peter 3:3-4. Be sure to read their contexts. Yes, I read the other day that Harold Camping is now predicting the second coming on May 21, 2011. The loonies keep coming out of the woodwork, but we know how to handle their predictions (Matthew 24:23). In Him, Doc |

Doc: With several of these "loonies" coming out with their predictions, and it appears some actually are ignorant to swallow their false predictions, is this when Scripture says many will be deceived? I doubt we could call the deceived the "elect". I have not heard of any who say they are Christ, have you? justme |

Dear justme, As to how what we are seeing today is associated with Matthew 24:24, I cannot assert in a definitive way. It would be safe to say that we see the idea of the passage expressed in various ways around us. Given the need of many believers for a contemporary validation of the gospel in signs and wonders, I can see their deception as very possible. Remember, the tares do not know they are tares (Matthew 13:30; cf Matthew 7:15-16). You asked, "I have not heard of any who say they are Christ, have you?" I saw a television program a few months ago that cited a number of people, in various parts of the world, who currently claim to be Christ. As I recall, some of them had many followers and others had none. None of them were doing too good of a job in their imitation of Christ. However, in concept, I don't see that the dispensationalist view of someone who did a better job of it would be impossible. In Him, Doc PS Just a thought: Note that Matthew uses the word pseudochristos and John uses the word antichristos. Even in modern parlance pseudo and anti mean quite different things. |

Doc: Thanks. I felt the need to reply because often I wonder after making a note or answer what the person thought. So again, THANKS. justme |
