Scripture ... Mat 24:29-31; 2 The 2:1 ... Who are His elect (vs 31)? If they are Christians, will we go thruough the tribulation (vv 29-30)? Episunagoge (gathering together) (2 The 2:1) is from Episunago (gather together) used here. Searcher |

2 | Who'll go through the tribulation? | Matt 24:31 | John Reformed | 67232
Dear Searcher, When anyone mentions the elect, I am drawn like a bee to honey! Election of Grace - The Scripture speaks (1) of the election of individuals to office or to honour and privilege, e.g., Abraham, Jacob, Saul, David, Solomon, were all chosen by God for the positions they held; so also were the apostles. (2) There is also an election of nations to special privileges, e.g., the Hebrews (Deut. 7:6; Rom. 9:4). (3) But in addition there is an election of individuals to eternal life (2 Thess. 2:13; Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:2; John 13:18). (Easton's Bible Dictionary) I believe the passage is a reference to the gathering together of all the saints (those chosen by God and saved through His gracious gift of faith). John |

4 | Who'll go through the tribulation? | Matt 24:31 | John Reformed | 67263
Dear Searcher, No. I am not post-trib. I lean more towards a-mil. However, I don't think that one's particular eschatological persuasion alters the identification of the "elect". All christians expect the church to be called together to meet the Lord at His appearing. Am I missing something? John |
