1 | Is the UPC a Christian Church? | Matt 24:11 | DarcyA | 97524
If your definition of Christian is someone who belongs to Christ. ThenI have a suggestion. DO NOT JUDGE especally when they love Jesus Christ. That place belongs to Lord Jesus Christ not us little humans. I am not totally confortable with the Trinity Doctrine. I believe that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one God. But to explain this can't do it. I know the Father does everthing through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. I know that Jesus worships the Father but yet He is equal to the Father. I know that the Son and Father, will not forgive anyone who continues the blasempy the Holy Spirit. But will forgive if you blasempy the Son or the Father. Can't explain that either because the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all equal, it is well past my understanding. Mohamand the founder of Islam stated this about Christians, Christians believe in 3 gods, The Father, The Son Jesus Christ, and Mary. (can guess where he got this from) The problem with sticking on the doctrine of the trinity which no one can explain is this: We put the doctrine into 3 persons and is also one person. None of these statements is correct in the truest since. God is not a person as what we define what a person is. Most define a person as Human or Human traits. God is alot more than this. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, have certain traits as He defined in his word so we can understand, but He is alot more than those traits. As far as I can tell, UPC believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and is God. The Jw's believe he is the son of God (an angel) and he is a god. Their is a big difference in the two. Are UPC saved I hope so. I do not know. But to say the serve another Jesus as the bible claims is stretching way to far for my taste. I can't make that claim. Everything you tell themn about Christ in the Bible they will say yes to and honestly believe it. So my suggestion is leave it in God's hands and do not judge them regarding Salvation or Christian. You yourself got a UPC to admit in The father and son. You can do that to any UPC with a couple of verses. And you don't have to twist the UPCer to say that. yes. |

2 | Is the UPC a Christian Church? | Matt 24:11 | John Reformed | 97527
The Athanasian Creed Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith; Which faith except every one do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son and another of the Holy Spirit. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is all one, the glory equal, the majesty co-eternal. Such as the Father is, such is the Son and such is the Holy Spirit. The Father uncreate, the Son uncreate, and the Holy Spirit uncreate. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Spirit incomprehensible. The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Spirit eternal. And yet they are not three eternals, but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated nor three incomprehensibles, but one uncreated and one incomprehensible. So likewise the Father is almighty, the Son almighty, and the Holy Spirit almighty; And yet they are not three almighties, but one almighty. So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God; And yet they are not three Gods, but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Spirit Lord; And yet they are not three Lords, but one Lord. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge every person by himself to be God and Lord; so are we forbidden by the catholic religion to say: There are three Gods or three Lords. The Father is made of none, neither created nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made nor created, but begotten. The Holy Spirit is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits. And in this Trinity none is afore, nor after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three persons are co-eternal, and co-equal. So that in all things, as aforesaid, the Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved must thus think of the Trinity. Furthermore it is necessary to everlasting salvation that he also believe rightly the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right faith is that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and man. God of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; and made of the substance of His mother, born in the world. Perfect God and perfect man, of a reasonable soul and human flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father as touching His Godhead, and inferior to the Father as touching His manhood. Who, although He is God and man, yet He is not two, but one Christ. One, not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh, but by taking of the manhood into God. One altogether, not by the confusion of substance, but by unity of person. For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man, so God and man is one Christ; Who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead; He ascended into heaven, He sitteth on the right hand of the Father, God Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies; And shall give account of their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting, and they that have done evil into everlasting fire. This is the catholic faith, which except a man believe faithfully, he cannot be saved. |

3 | Is the UPC a Christian Church? | Matt 24:11 | DarcyA | 97531
...Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith; ...This is the catholic faith, which except a man believe faithfully, he cannot be saved. That statement there is the only part I have read. That statement there is an one word an lie. That is hersey. Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 1 Cor. 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Either the Cathlolic statement of faith is correct or the Bible is correct. I will go with the Word of God. I pray that God's takes me before I even think of bowing down to John Paul 2 and kissing his ring or calling him Holy Father or his word equal to Gods Word. I will belive in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who is God. Born of a virgin mother, lived a sinless life and died upon a cross for my sins and destroyed the works of satan, so I may have eternal life in Him. And I am saved by Grace through Faith in Him. That is how I am saved. I do not have to believe in a thing that the Cathlics, Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, or any other denomination, writes. My faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ and none other. |
