1 | NASB leaves out baptism from Koine Greek | Matt 20:22 | jrresto78 | 221681
I'm trying to find out why the NASB does not include "...and to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" which is in the Koine Greek?

If my understanding is correct, Koine Greek refers to the language (basically common Greek). The phrase you are referring to is found in some manuscripts, but not every manuscript has this phrase included in it. Based on the translators desicions on which manuscripts are the most reliable, the phrase is not included. Most modern translations do not include this phrase which is found in the KJV, the NKJV includes the phrase with a footnote saying it is not included in the NU text. Brad |
