Greetings chengang! The 'generations' in both 1 Chr. 3:11-12 and 2 Chr. 21:4-26:23 vary from that spoken of in Matthew 1:8, where Matthew skips over Ahaziah, Joash, and Amaziah, and goes directly from Joram to Uzziah (Azariah)- using a kind of genealogical shorthand. "He seems to do this intentionally in order to make a symmetrical 3-fold division in verse 17." [MacArthur Study Bible, pg. 1393, 1997 Word Publishing] You are welcome! - Nolan |
