1 | need references to "it's already done" | Matt 18:18 | Evangelist Tee | 168689
I am in the process of writing a sermon and would like to know where I can find references in the bible in regards to "it's already done in the spirit". There are several songs, however, I am unclear of what verse it makes reference to. Please send me a list of references so I can continue my studies.
2 | need references to "it's already done" | Matt 18:18 | srbaegon | 168690
Hello Evangelist Tee, There is no passage that says this, however, there's something that comes close. Matthew 18:18-20 (ESV) Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. [19] Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. [20] For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. Now you need to be careful, because the context is church discipline. It's not a "catch all" for everything someone wants to do. Steve |

3 | need references to "it's already done" | Matt 18:18 | mark d seyler | 168702
Hi Steve, Do you then think that the principles Jesus taught in this passage apply only to situations where church discipline is involved (binding and loosing, agreeing in prayer, His presence in small groups)? Would this be a "catch-all" for everything someone wants to do that is related to church discipline? Also, do you think that vs. 18 in particular applies to Christians in general, or specifically to the disciples? Love in Christ, Mark |

Hello Mark, I think that you have to be careful beyond church discipline. The teaching is that the church has authority regardless of its size. Notice the Lord does not say that a splinter group has the authority, but the entire local church is in mind. This is not all the teaching on church discipline. We need to add 1 Cor 5 and 1 Tim 5:19-20. The whole of the teaching is applicable. I do see v. 18 as applying today. Steve |
