In Caesarea-Philippi peter made a great confession and I would like to know what it was as I'm not sure if it was his confession of denying Jesus 3 times or confessing to thomas that he believed that Jesus had risen. | ||||||

Hello sistergirl Neither of these is the confession, rather it's his acknowledgement of who the Lord Jesus Christ truly was--the Christ (the Messiah who was promised) and the Son of God (who is in Himself all that God is; total equality with God, therefore He must be God). Steve |

Steve, I just want to say thank you for answering my question. I was thinking that the confession had to be something negative because 1st John 1:9 says if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Not first thinking that even before that could happen we would have to do what Romans 10:9-10 says which is to confess the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead we shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. So he first had to make a positive confession before the negative. |
