1 | Is church growth a gauge for the church? | Matt 13:23 | pocketzz | 189510 | ||
I cannot remember if this was something somone once told me, and I believed it to be biblical, or if I read it int he bible, and just can't find it. The question? I "remember" hearing that Churches can gauge their preformance based upon their growth / increase in size. That a growing church is a sign of a healthy and spirit led church. Can anyone point me to biblical references to this subject? Or tell me that I am remembering incorrectly? Thanks, Dan |

Hi, Dan... No, growth in size is not a reliable measure of a healthy church. Many human organizations grow in number, but that doesn't mean they are sanctioned by God. I would direct you to the following website: http://www.9marks.org/ Click on the link entitled "The Nine Marks" Here you will see what the Bible identifies as some of the primary characteristics of a healthy congregation. I highly recommend Dr. Mark Dever's book from which the website was derived. In Him, Doc |
