Why in Matthew 12:7 NASB is the whole sentence capitalized? "But if you had known what this means, '(A)I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. Any insight on why the word COMPASSION was used instead of mercy? God Bless! |

The words "compassion" and "mercy" come from the same Greek word "eleos". As to why the NASB chose to use compassion instead of mercy, I cannot tell you. But I don't think it should make much difference since they both mean the same thing anyway. | ||||||
