Following are Pearls of Wisdom from the writings of "Sctt", gleaned from previous postings at StudyBibleForum.com. . Unregenerated man is the serpent in Gen. 3:1-7. Sctt: 'GEN.3:1-7 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden. Who is this serpent that is so subtil ( crafty , sly , shrewd ) and has the gift of speech? Unregenerated man ( man without Christ in his life ).' . Satan is not Lucifer. Sctt: 'Now if Lucifer is Satan how come he is called a man? nowhere in the bible that I know of does it call Satan a man. So this rules out Satan being Lucifer.' . Sctt: 'there were more then just one man and one woman created ' . Sctt: 'Therefore it was not the eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that was mans sin but the breaking of the commandment THOU SHALT NOT. ' . Sctt: 'God created the living creature , this is mankind with all the different races. God looks at the living creature that he has made and says lets make man in our image. So God takes one of the races of man that he created and puts him in the garden to train him. (...) 'So then God takes this race of man , the Hebrew or tribe of Israel and puts him in the garden to be made into his image' . God has given new revelation to Sctt. Here the implied argument is that what is asserted here must be true because it comes by direct revelation of God. Sctt: 'Hi sweetpea God has shown me something concerning the first few capters of Gen. They are a little different from what you my be use to hearing' . Sctt: 'even Jesus Christ was not perfected until he died on the Cross' . GEN.1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. It says "God created (past tense) man in his own image." Sctt says this is not true -- that in Gen. 1:27 is not when God created man in his own image. Sctt: 'Now I must ask you did the first man Adam have Gods image and likeness? If you believe he did then I must ask how then did he sin? We know that God cannot sin and if Adam had all Gods attributes how did he sin? ' . Judas had no free will and 'he went through hell to get to heaven.' Sctt: 'Now to the fact that Jesus knew we have to look at predestination. Acts 1:16 says Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. Now when I look at a scripture like this I see that Judas was predestinated to be the one that was prophisied to betray Jesus. Did he have his own free will in this matter? No, I don't think so . . . So if he was raised up for this purpose were is his free will? he did what was prophiseied of him to fulfill the scriptures. Did he go to heaven or hell? I look at it this way he went through hell to get to heaven. I beleave in a restitution of all things,all things are Gods ,and all things will be restored unto Him. Acts 3:21' . If I understand him correctly, Sctt is saying: The fact that Adam did not die on the exact 24-hour-day in which he sinned absolutely proves that a day need not be 24 hours long, but could indeed be any length of time from 24 hours to 1,000 years. But it seems to me that such a loose definition of the word 'day' would be very confusing to the priests of the OT who kept God's laws regarding sabbath days, feast days, holy days, etc. Should one rest and abstain from all work for 24 hours or for 1,000 years? Was Jonah in the belly of the great fish for 72 hours or 3,000 years? Did Moses and Elijah fast for 24 hours multiplied by 40 or for 40,000 years? Sctt: 'So if 930 years is not one day who is to say what realy is? I hope this make sence , I'm not very good at putting my thoughts down on paper.In Christ Scott' . On 04-10-2002 Sctt writes: 'Nowhere in the bible that I can find does it say Adam died a spiritual death ,if I'm wrong please show me the scripture as it may be of help. But if there is no scripture in the bible that shows this was a spiritual death are you not reading into the scriptures what is not written in them.' Yet one day later, on 04-11-2002 Sctt writes: 'God told Adam he would die in the day he ate of the fruit of the tree,you maintain this to be a spiritual death,I on the other hand maintain it to be both a spiritual death and a natural death.He died a spiritual death the moment he ate of the fruit of the tree' |

2 | Pearls of Wisdom by Sctt | Matt 12:36 | Greg Martin | 45235 | ||
Well, those are certainly, uhmm, interesting. One post in a roundabout way kinda makes sense. Sctt: 'Therefore it was not the eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that was mans sin but the breaking of the commandment THOU SHALT NOT. ' The sin was, in effect, the same as Satan's. That is trying to overthrow God. By disobeying they are essentially telling God that He shall not rule their life. So they are placing themselves in His position. This is Satan's crime; he tried to get others to commit it too, and he succeeded. One final note, the original text of Gen 2:17 is kind of confusing, but it goes ets da'ath towb ra 'akal (Perfect) yowm 'akal (Infinitive) muwth (Infinitive) muwth (Perfect) Which is something like tree knowledge good evil [shall have eaten] time [to eat] dying [shall die]. or "dying you shall surely die." |
