1 | Choosing a bilbe text | Matt 10:8 | techguy | 147801
I have a question on a slightly different topic here. I'm writing some software which allows access to text from mobile devices (phones, etc). One of the good uses I thought of for this program would be to make scripture available. The good news about that is that there are several different texts available which are off copyright. The bad news is that I have no idea which one I should go with. I want to use whichever text I can use for free (legally) while at the same time choosing text that is most accepted by Americans. I think the KJV is beautiful, and it is free, but is it what Americans would be comfortable with? What are my other options? I appreciate any suggestions. I'm somewhat of a newbie on this area.

Greetings, I agree with you the King James Version is beautiful but many people can not understand it. I never recommend it to a new believer. May I suggest the New King James Version which is much easier to read or the New International Version which is also very popular. Many blessings to you for this undertaking! prayon

I can't vouch for this thing's correctness, but here's what one fellow says about "understandability" of various versions: http://www.mardel.com/site1/products/bibles/trans-level.htm |
