I went and read the things that you put in your answer. Being a new Christian-----I am really looking for support. Being a new Christian I had to give up some things to begin my walk with Christ Jesus. I thought that I could just walk away from the temptation of homosexual activities. When I was with my church family the temptations where not there. What am I doing wrong? Will God turn away from me if I can not fight off the temptation? | ||||||

Please understand that temptation is not sin. Even Jesus was tempted, but did not sin. If you want to see what a struggle temptation is for all of us look carefully at Romans 7. The whole chapter is about Paul's battle with sin. The things that he didn't want to do he did and the things he wanted to do he didn't do. We all face this struggle. If you have truly received Christ as your savior He has given you the Holy Spirit to dwell within you and to empower you to resist sin. Is it easy, no it is often difficult, especially if we have formed bad habits. However, looking further into Romans at chapter 8 first you will see that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. Then verses 1-27 explain how the Holy Spirit empowers us to live for Christ. Also, Christ has given us the body of Christ to provide accountability, comfort, encouragement, teaching, motivation and most importantly prayer support to assist you in staying pure before the Lord. You may experience failures along the way, but God's grace is sufficient for you. Satan will condemn you, but God will lovingly convict you but never condemn you. |
