Hi, Ironrose..., The answer is one... but it is past tense... "fulfilled!" This has already taken place (see Matthew 21:5 or John 12:15). Three of the four gospels are synoptic (that is, "with the same eye"). In other words, they are written from similar standpoints. The fourth gospel (John), written much later, has a somewhat different intent. Matthew wrote for Hebrew readers; Mark wrote for Roman readers; Luke wrote for Greek readers; and (this is my opinion) John was written for the church. I like to think that there are four gospels because the story of Christ Himself is so important. Each gospel gives a slightly different picture of our Savior. I hope that helps. In Him, Doc |
