Greetings Kalprofessional, We know from the Bible that seasons were established after the flood (Genesis 8:22) and God gave the rainbow as a sign of His covenant (Genesis 9:14-15). It did not rain until the flood (Genesis 2:4-6, 7:11-12), and if we are obedient to Him, He will make it rain at the right season (Deut. 11:13-29). We can pray for rain (1 Sam. 12:18; 1 Kings 18:16-46; James 5:17-18), but it is God who controls the weather (Exodus 9:29; Psalm 135:6-7; Jeremiah 10:13). Good weather is a blessing from God (1 Kings 8:35-36). If the weather gets to be out of season (Prov. 26:1), and we avoid work (Prov. 20:4) and our worship service is affected because of it (Ezra 10:13), then let us not get too concerned about the weather (Ecclesiastes 11:4) since the skies are at God's command (Psalm 77:16-19) as He continues to sustain the universe (Jeremiah 51:15-16). As the rain falls (Job 36:27-30, 37:6, 15-16), there is no cause for drought (2 Sam. 21:1), since the rain is likened to a blessing (Psalm 72:6). If we attempt to forecast the weather (Matthew 16:1-3) and predict if it is going to rain (Luke 12:54-56), we must not forget that the wind is obedient to the Creator's command (Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25), and not mistake the voice of God for thunder (John 12:28-29). Can we forbid the wind to blow (Rev. 7:1) or rain hailstones from the sky (Rev. 16:21)? No, we cannot. But the sky has been seen as revealing the reality of God (Psalm 18:9-14). Blessings to you, Makarios |
