In the book of Exodus, why did the God use flies, locust and other things against Pharoah? In other words is there some significance in the locust, lice etc., that God use to bring the Isralites out of boundage?
2 | What was the importance of flies? | Ex 8:21 | Scribe | 85765
It is possible that most of the plagues were a fitting judgement against things the Egyptians in their idolatry held sacred. For instance frogs being sacred to them might have been a message that, that which they worshipped in their idolatry the Lord gave them as their judgment. There has been research done to try and identify an Egyptian God for each of the plagues but I don't think it is that simple. Sort of like an abundance of gold in a famine among those that live their life chasing money would be a fitting judgment. The prophecies speak of a day coming when men will throw out their Gold in the streets because it cannot save them from the wrath that is upon them. |
