Hello Azure, Moses wanted to firmly establish Aaron's and his lineage and subsequent right to act in the way they did representing God and Israel before Pharaoh. While the priestly line was not yet established as far as the narrative is concerned, the book of Exodus was probably written at Sinai or during the wilderness wandering when the priesthood was established.
