1 | Exodus 24 and Exodus 33 | Ex 33:23 | ac6zz | 184161
How can God be seen and eat dinner with 73 men and if Eloheim shows his face to Moses, God will need to kill Moses nine chapters later? EXODUS 24:9 Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 24:10 and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself. 24:11 Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and they beheld God, and they ate and drank. and EXODUS 33:18 Then Moses said, "I pray Thee, show me Thy glory!" 33:19 And He said, "I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion." 33:20 But He said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!" |

2 | Exodus 24 and Exodus 33 | Ex 33:23 | WestOfCA | 184162
I think the key difference in the examples is seeing the FACE of God. Thus, the 70 elders, Moses, Aaron and Aaron's sons did see God. However they did not see the face of God. And, in Exodus chapter 33, Moses was further allowed to see some of the goodness and glory of God--but not the face of God. In Verse 23 the Lord says Moses will be allowed to "see my back" but not his face; his face is not allowed to be seen. |

3 | How does one eat wihout a face? | Ex 33:23 | ac6zz | 184172
It may be the the best answer, and is certainly a better answer than I came up with, but the mouth is on the face and they clearly ate together in Exodus 24. Did God digitally remove his face like they do on TV?
4 | How does one eat wihout a face? | Ex 33:23 | jonp | 184182
Hi The elders ate in the presence of God. There is no suggestion that God ate with them. They would probably see God in the form of the appearance of fire (compare Ezekiel 1.26-27). Best wishes Jonp
