1 | Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy is | Ex 20:8 | 19077
In Genesis, the Bible speaks of "Keeping the Sabbath," What does that mean? Some say it means to stop all work, and attend church on Saturday. To me Keeping the Sabbath means just what it says.. to keep it. I do not attend church on Saturdays but on Sundays. I keep the Sabbath every day in my heart and the way I live. What would be the purpose of keeping one day (Saturday) when you act like the devil the other six days of the week. I don't think the "day" actual matters as long as you are living "Holy" and "Righteous" every day of the week...24-7. What are your thoughts? |

3 | Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy is | Ex 20:8 | easyoke | 19116
Hebrews 4:3-10 explains we enter into god's REST which is the Sabbath when we believe the Gospel. Which means we stop doing our own works and do God's will in our life. The Old Testament Sabbath keeping was a symbol of the New Testment Christian believer. |

4 | Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy is | Ex 20:8 | Makarios | 19128
Dear easyoke, I would disagree. I believe that the "Sabbath-rest" that is spoken of in Hebrews 4:9 is referring to the rest that we all enter into by having faith in Jesus Christ. God rested from the work of creation and the believer ceases his efforts to gain salvation by his own works and rests in the finished work of Christ on the cross. I do not see how Hebrews 4:3-10 would in any way support the idea that we must keep the Jewish Sabbath. Blessings to you, Nolan |

Hi Nolan. I dont know what led you to write pertaining to the "Sabbath-rest" but I just want to add my little much. Just to say if the commandments given in the old testament (agreement) was enough for us to live by, then Christ died for nothing.
6 | Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy is | Ex 20:8 | Makarios | 19154
Hello eddiand! Actually, the "Sabbath-rest" was the only part of Hebrews 4:3-10 that I could find that would have anything at all to do with "keeping the Sabbath", which happens to be the topic of this thread. I completely agree! If the commandments given to the Israelites were enough for us to live by, then Christ died for nothing. But Christ did not die for nothing! We could never be justified in God's sight just by following the law, and we have proven that we can't even do that! So God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the whole world, forever settling the sin problem that all humans have. Now, we must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior into our hearts, believe that He rose from death, and confess Him as Lord, then we will be saved! (Romans 10:9,13) Good input eddiand! Your Brother in Christ, Nolan PS.. Romans is one of my favorite books! :) |
