2 | Population request | Ex 12:37 | EdB | 236404 | ||
Exodus 12:37-38 (NKJV) 37 Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. 38 A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds--a great deal of livestock. Scripture records that there were 600,000 men on foot. If we assume current population figures we would multiply this number by 2.5 (wife and every other family having a child) giving us a number or 1.5 million. However most scholars believed a normal family was at least 4 children so the number could be as high as 3.6 million or more. Scripture never gives us the exact number but we know it was huge. |
