The Exodus account is about the hardships faced by the Israelites. The relationship of Israelites as God's people seems to be formalized in Ex 6:6 where God "adopt" Israel as his people - and promises to redeem them from the harsh labor. These "adoption" and "redemption" were first mentioned specifically in Ex. Egyptians on the other hand - are polytheist - and are very different from Israelites. In fact, most of the Exodus talks about the liberation of Israelites from Egypt. | ||||||
