It is known as the Law of Double Reference. And it is often seen in the scripture especially in the Old Testament. Since the Old Testament is a sense is laying the groundwork for the New Testament God often uses an event in the Old Testament to something he is going to accomplish in the New Testament. This passage is an excellent example of God doing just that. |
