2 | the greek meanin of the word hiss | Ezek 27:36 | Jensen | 45552 | ||
Dear Debbie...Welcome to the Forum :-) This word is a Hebrew word (OT) not Greek. In Hebrew this word appears 12 times in the Bible. Seven times it means "scoff", One time it means "hiss", one time it means "hisses", one time it means "signal", one time it means "whistle", and one time it is translated as "whistles." In the verse you give it may be understood possibly as "scoff" but look at Jer 46:22 where it can only mean hiss as a snake hisses. The hiss is a sound of a snake of course. I hope this helps and we all look forward to hearing from you again. God Bless....Jensen |
