Exodus 34:17 "Do not make cast idols. Leviticus 26:1 " 'Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. We are not to worship idols. The act of worship is a verb and the definitions are this: 1 : to honor or reverence as a divine being or supernatural power 2 : to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion intransitive senses : to perform or take part in worship or an act of worship synonym see REVERE 1 Samuel 12:21 Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. If you have a picture of Jesus in your house and you are bowing down, or giving that picture powers to bring your house "good luck" or any other power, then that is worship as discribed in the dictionary. Having a picture of a friend is different. The question is for you to ask yourself....Is this picture effecting your household in a manner such as the ones discribed by the bible and dictionary? or is this a mere picture of a friend as any other in my house, a decoration of art, with no religious significance to bring blessings, or luck? |
