1 | Why does God call Ezekiel "son of man"? | Ezek 1:3 | Inquisitor | 222994
Upon using the Gateway website, I did find several verses as you say with this phrase, Son of Man. But of course, I prefer the New King James Version. I also notice Isaiah does the same thing in a few of his verses like Isaiah 56:2 "Blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who lays hold on it; Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And keeps his hand from doing any evil.” If one studies these chapters carefully, you will notice they usually start with something like "Thus saith the Lord." Also, large portions of these scriptures have quotation marks around them, suggesting they (Isaiah and Ezekiel are quoting the Lord. I'm thinking this is accepted by most Bible scholars. Who else could possibly chew out the Israelite nation so harshly and the writings both seem to project the future. This technique is used quite a bit both in old and new literature. It makes the book come alive if the reader can visualize he is actually listening to the person orignating the message, in this case the Lord Himself. I for one have to agree with the scholars as these writers were trying desparately to warn Israel of her pending doom. |

2 | Why does God call Ezekiel "son of man"? | Ezek 1:3 | Jesus' Chickling | 223023
That makes sense, kind of like saying "Thus saith the LORD", only, God starts with "son of man" because it kind of creates a contrast: the person speaking is not a "son of man" (human). Thanks!
