What is being implied in Ezek 11:3 is that they, (the wicked leaders) are somehow being protected and feeling quite safe from siege, as the brass would separate the meat from the flame, from being burned. See, also in, Jer 1:13 where is seen a, boiling pot, facing "away" from the north, from whence destruction is imminent.
