1 | paying to drink water that belongs to us | Lam 5:4 | Tauna | 111100
In light of Isa 55:1, this is an interesting verse. I, at first, meant to dismiss it as a literal record of the situation being described in Lamentations chapter 5. But as I was reviewing the verse, I realized, there may be a spiritual connotation hidden in these words. Isaiah says, by the Spirit of God, that we can buy water, "without money, and without price, simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing." Of course, this scripture is referring to that "water of life" "by which the soul is refreshed, supported and strenghtened" (Rev 22;17). The question that springs to mind is this: Because of our unwillingness to "surrender-self" and "accept the blessing" (Isa 55:1) are we forced to "pay money to drink the water that belongs to us". In other words, are we wasting our strength and effort to buy refreshment, support and strength from other sources, when this "living" water belongs to us, as children of the Most High God? What a sad state our rejection of God's way has found us in. Let us cast aside our way, our selfish desires, and surrender self, so that we may accept the blessing of being His child, and come to the living water and drink. AMEN!
