Scripture ... Jer 5:1-31, 2 Tim 4:1-5 ... lialia1212, greetings. The context is important. See the effect of sin (vv 1-19). Jeremiah is told proclaim God’s word to the people of Israel (vv 20-25). God speaks against the rich and powerful and increae it at the expense of the poor and weak (vv 26-29). Now He speaks against the enstrusted rulers. The prophet had to proclaim faithfully and truthfully His word. It was simple, but may not be popular. The were to priests rule by God's power ... a theocracy. When leaders mislead the people, there is moral decline. Read 2 Timohty 4:1-5. I hope I answered your question, Searcher |

Greetings Searcher - I've been pondering this verse lately and wonder about the last phrase: "What will you do at the end of it?" Is this a challenge to believers when confronted with apostacy? Do we recognize spiritual leaders who are ruling by their own authority? Do you see a lack of emphasis on personal Bible Study in our midst - ie. Christians are satisfied with the "spoon feeding" of others instead of searching out the Truth that God wants to personally impart to them? I'd be interested in knowing what you think. Blessings on your day. mommapbs |

mommapbs ... not only are we to challenge believers (Gal 1), but the leaders (Act 17:11). Lack of personal Bible study is a cause that lets people follow the leader (Heb 5:11-14). We ALL must speak up when we hear error ... even if it is an honest mistake. I have spoken up several times. I ask if I am the only one. Most of the time, I am. We wonder if people are not listening or they are afraid of speaking to the speaker. Searcher |
