1 | God's decree on His elects - oppression | Jer 50:33 | azurelaw | 199446
"...all who took them captive have held them fast..." Shall I understand it as on one hand, the Israelites and the Jews encountered oppression from ALL (first the Egyptians, then the Babylonians....the Nazis) for the reason that they are God's people; while on the other hand, all believers (in a broader sense of God's elect) shall also encounter persecution from many as what Jesus has taught beforehand. Therefore, the key is not the oppressors but the Elects (all believers) are not of the world? Hope I have explained myself clear. Shalom Azure |

2 | God's decree on His elects - oppression | Jer 50:33 | Val | 199575
Azure, we know the reason that the people were oppressed was that they were suffering for their years of disobedience. However, the Lord always gave hope of restoration. And we see that as they did return under Cyrus. Since I interpret God's program for Israel separate from the program for the church I would say no to your question. Blessings, Val
