Scripture ... Jer 29:10-14 (context vv 1-23) ... franky, Greetings ... It is important to look at the context of verse 11. The immediate one is verses 10-14, where we see that this will happen in 70 years (25:11-12). That is when the plans He knows (vs 23) will take place. The plans are for their prosperity. But, it is based on their willingness to repent (Due 4:29-30). The plans are that He will bring them back (30:3,18; 31:23; Due 30:3-5). The next context is verses 1-23, where we see that this is a letter to the exiles and that it was from God. You asked, "How can I apply it to my office situation?" The Lord has plans for you, but they may include calamity (evil) in some people's eyes. Look at what happened to Job, Paul and our Lord. Some would say they had calamity (evil). But, they all had the focus on God. Romans 8:28 (context vv 28-30) says that all will work out for the good of us. Elsewhere, we see we will have trails and need to count it joy ... we need to be willing to lose everything. Hope this helps, Searcher |
