Dear justme, I agree with you one hundred percent! It is because of corruption in the government (spiritual blindness) that will spark the great tribulation upon us Christians in the last days. (Matt 24:20-29) These are the things we as true believers in Christ should pay close attention to. My next question then is, why should we, as Christians be so concerned with politics? |

Dear Humility, When Christ returns to judge the living and the dead, it will be in God's own time. Governments are intended to punish evil and reward good. When they get that turned around, they bring down temporal judgment on themselves. Governments don't have souls. They exist only in the here and now. God is holy. The final judgment won't come to the world as a consequence of what governments do. Judgment will come as a vindication of God's holiness against sinful men (Romans 9:22). Have you not read? This IS the judgment, that men loved darkness and rejected the Light (John 3:19). I know there are lots of books and movies that the popular Christian culture find titillating. But we're a forum based on sola Scriptura. Hence, we want to be very careful not to go beyond the Word itself into speculation -- regardless of how appealing these things are to the masses (2 Timothy 4:3-4). We are told to render to Caesar (the earthly kingdom) what is Caesar's and God (the heavenly kingdom) what is God's (Matthew 22:21).
